Sync contacts and events via CalDAV (iOS, Android, Thunderbird, eM Client) - Basic

You can synchronize calendar/events (CalDAV) and contacts (CardDAV) with our basic accounts.

On IOS, if you access Afterlogic WebMail, it will offer you an automated way to setup calendar and contacts, without requiring the procedures below.

Note that Enhanced accounts offer Exchange ActiveSync, which is simpler to setup and more complete.

iOS - Mac, iPhone, iPad (iCal/Events)

iOS - Mac, iPhone, iPad (CardDAV/Contacts)

  • Open up Settings
  • Open Mail, Contacts & Calendars
  • Select Add Account > Other > CardDAV account
  • Inform your full e-mail address  respective password and server, as such: al.emailarray.com/dav.php

Android (CalDAV/Calendar)

We had success using CalendarSync and ContactSync, which are low cost applications that include a trial version which can be found at the Google Play Store.

Basically, in both programs, after installation:

  • Open up the program, click on your phone's Menu key and choose Create new WebiCal or Create WebContact, if you want to setup contacts sync
  • Choose the first option: Guided setup
  • Specify this URL: https://al.emailarray.com/dav.php, User should be filled with your full e-mail address and specify respective password
  • After clicking on Test connection, the app will request for you to choose with calendar or contacts item you want to sync
  • Afterwords, click on the auto configuration button
  • The app will inform you that the setup has been finalized
  • In the program's main screen, click on button Manage WebiCals or Manage WebContacts (Sync with network) to synchronize
  • In Menu > Preferences, you can setup automatic synchronization

Thunderbird (CalDAV/Calendar)

  • Obtain the Lightning add-on for Thunderbird and install it
  • In Mozilla Thunderbird, access Tools menu > Add-ons
  • Click on the Gear icon, which is next to "Search all add-ons" and select "Install Add-on from File…" and choose the add-on you downloaded previously
  • Access Afterlogic WebMail at http://al.emailarray.com and login
  • Click on Settings, on the top right side and then on Mobile Sync, on the left side
  • Check the address (URL) informed in the field CalDAV access to your calendars > My Calendar. Select that address and click on Control C (Copy)
  • Back to Thunderbird, click on the Calendar icon on the top right (or Events & Tasks menu > choose Calendar)
  • In the Calendars tab, on the bottom right, below Calendar item, right click in any white space and choose New Calendar
  • Choose "On the Network" and click Next
  • For Format, choose "CalDAV"
  • In the Location field, press Control V, to paste the address we obtained in WebMail
  • Click on Next
  • Choose the friendly account name (can be anything, such as your email address), color for event reminders and e-mail account associated, then click on Next and Finalize
  • All ready, your events shall now be synchronized to Thunderbird. You can also right click your calendar item and choose to Sync manually.

Thunderbird (CardDav/Contatos)

  • Obtain the Sogo Connector Thunderbird extension for Thunderbird and install it
  • In Mozilla Thunderbird, access Tools menu > Add-ons
  • Click on the Gear icon, which is next to "Search all add-ons" and select "Install Add-on from File…" and choose the add-on you downloaded previously
  • Access Afterlogic WebMail at http://al.emailarray.com and login
  • Click on Settings, on the top right side and then on Mobile Sync, on the left side
  • Check the address (URL) informed in the field CardDAV access to your address books > Personal contacts. Select that address and click on Control C (Copy)
  • Back to Thunderbird, access menu Tools > Address Book
  • Click on menu File > New > Remote Address Book
  • In the Name field, type in a friendly name for your contacts
  • In the URL field, paste (control V) the address we obtained in Webmail. NOTE: Due to a bug in Sogo, you have to replace the % sign with %40
  • Notice some options can be chosen, such as automatic sync
  • Click on OK
  • For manual sync, right click the contacts item and choose Synchronize

eM Client (Shareware, syncs events and contacts)

  • Access Afterlogic WebMail at http://al.emailarray.com and login
  • Click on Settings, on the top right side and then on Mobile Sync, on the left side
  • Check the address (URL) informed in the field CalDAV access to your calendars > My Calendar. Select that address and click on Control C (Copy)
  • Now in eM Client, access Tools/Accounts
  • Click on the New account... button and choose Calendar > Caldav, then click on Next
  • In the first field, URL Address for account, click inside the field and press Control V (paste)
  • Inform your full e-mail address and respective password, then click on Next
  • In the next screen, inform the friendly account name, which can be anything, such as your e-mail address and then click on Next, followed by Finalize
  • Click on OK to close the account setup screen
  • All ready, when accessing eM Client's Calendar and Contacts tabs, you shall see the account you setup and, clicking on them, should reveal their items
